Creative Photography by Jeff Burton

Jeff Burton

Jeff Burton’s photography has been exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, the Barbican Centre in London, and many other national and international museums. He has had seven solo shows at his primary gallery, Casey Kaplan. Burton’s work is also represented at Galleria Franco Noero.

Burton has collaborated on advertising campaigns with Tom Ford, Yves Saint Laurent, Kris Van Assche, and Wrangler Europe, as well as projects with Jean Colonna and Lancôme. Burton has contributed to French Vogue, Vogue Hommes International, Domus, Arena Homme +, Vanity Fair, Fantastic Man, Numéro, and The New York Times.

After receiving an MFA in painting from CalArts in 1989, Jeff Burton began a career as a stills photographer on the sets of adult movies. Untitled (K.C.) demonstrates Burton’s careful attention to the compositional possibilities of the pornographic scene. In K.C., as with much of Burton’s work, bodies hold more than the promise of sex - they offer the opportunity to reinvest in the urgent pleasure of looking. While genres collide and attentions wander, Burton’s work advocates for a desire that reaches beyond the proscribed boundaries of sex into the landscape of the everyday.

Jeff Burton lives in Los Angeles. He has had numerous solo shows in the U.S., Japan and Europe. His work has also been included in many group exhibitions, including Beau Monde/Site Santa Fe 4th International Biennial (2001), curated by Dave Hickey, and Stills: Emerging Photography in the 1990s (Walker Art Center, 1997).

Aerial Photography by Stephan Zirwes

Stephan Zirwes

German photographer Stephan Zirwes is most known for his aerial shots, finding delicate and poetic forms in the most mundane or exciting of environments. His photos are so beautiful. Part of their beauty is that they are shot directly downward. The other part is the subjects of the photos. Hundreds of meters above the ground with a climbing harness, hanging out of an open helicopter, Zirwes composes his graphical abstracting photographs. His work shows patterns, structures, connections, boarders, uniformities and contrasts but also current political and sociocritical themes.
